SWOP AMBASSADORS

We work towards ensuring that the rights of sex workers are respected and upheld

About Us

Established in 2014 and registered in 2016, SWOP Ambassadors is a Nairobi-based women sex workers’-led and managed advocacy organization, committed to addressing the environments of violence, human rights abuses, and stigmatizing laws and policies that limit the quality of life of sex workers, and their access to HIV treatment and prevention, and sexual and reproductive healthcare

We focus attention on sex workers at the margins: chiefly, those that are poor; migrants, refugees and undocumented; older/aging; disabled; injecting drugs; and living with HIV, advanced HIV disease, and other terminal illnesses.

For the most part, most of our constituents live at the intersection of these marginalizations, and suffer increased vulnerability due to the compounding effect of several marginalizations.

We need to reshape our own perception of how we view ourselves. We have to step up as sex workers and take the lead.
